Official vinyl reissue of one of the best progressive albums ever resurfaced from the British Islands.
Cirkus quintet formed, in late 1973, from the ashes of bands Lucas Tyson and Moonhead. Soon, Hollies' manager Robin Britten took the band under his wings and during 1974, Cirkus recorded their debut, entitled "One", and just 1000 copies were pressed up. It is widely regarded as the most musically accomplished private pressing of its kind to emerge out of the UK's then burgeoning progressive music scene of the early 70's.
"One" was produced by veteran from the (early) Beatles and Hollies, Ron Richards. All the tracks were laid down virtually live and then the overdubs and vocals were added in later sessions. Enhanced string and choir parts, written by Tony Hymas, were also added later and followed the mellotron lines.
This reissue is coming along an extra 7" single with two previously unreleased tracks from 1974. "Castles" and "The heaviest stone". "Castles" was one of…if not the first song ever recorded by Cirkus.
